Cabrera, Dominican Republic
The Cabrera area offers tropical living with an international
flavor. There is a large North American and European community
living alongside the Hispanic culture of the friendly Dominican
people.
Cabrera is also considered the “Hampton” of the
Dominican Republic. It is a remarkably beautiful, unique and
still a rural community located in the province of Maria Trinidad
Sanchez on the northern coastline. A short distance away is
the much larger city of Nagua. Further east is the Samana International
Airport. Cabrera is often called "Cabrera de Nagua"
to distinguish it from other towns named Cabrera in the Dominican
Republic. Our Cabrera has several of the most gorgeous beaches
on the island nearby. It is a small town of about 40,000 spread
over roughly 276 km2. Unlike other areas on the north coast,
Cabrera is not dependent upon tourism, something that is reflected
in the character of the city and its population. Cabrera obtains
much of its income from fishing, farm animals and agricultural
products.
The city and surrounding areas with Playa Grande Beach and the
Playa Grande Golf Course are considered to be one of the most
beautiful regions in the Dominican Republic. The area faces
primarily north, enjoying an almost constant pleasant breeze
from the east-west trade winds. It offers emerald green lush
vegetation, white beaches, fresh water pools and rivers, waterfalls,
and many more natural attractions.
